As intriguing as its name, “=”, the theme of this FW 23/24 collection from the Japanese brand Anrealage is inspired by the work of Jakob von Uexküll, a German biologist and philosopher (1864 – 1944) who studied how living creatures perceive their environment. We owe to this precursor of ethology (the scientific study of animal behavior) the concept of umvelt (environment, in english) which considers that to each different living species corresponds its own world, experienced through the prism of its specific senses (pictures : ©Anrealage).

The brand's stylist, Kunihiko Morinaga, explains in his press release how he transposed this umwelt concept into his collection: “The way different organisms perceive the world through sensory data is not “=.” Seeing nature through the eyes of an insect, for instance, reminds us that things aren’t necessarily what they seem. A yellow flower, and the Umwelt for bees which can see in the ultraviolet spectrum differs sharply from that of a human’s perception of that flower. To help target areas of nectar, the color of the flower’s center is an intense reddish-purple for the bee, while other parts are monochrome.” “We are all one race, even if how I see my world is not equal to how you see your world,” concludes Kunihiko Morinaga (pictures : ©Anrealage).

In his fashion show, the Japanese artist therefore chose to expose, using a mobile light device, the photochromic materials of his clothes to ultraviolet rays, so that their pigments react to them by changing color. Thus, under the action of UV rays, white is transformed into grey, pink, yellow, purple or blue, while yellow and red reveal their patterns of stripes or polka dots, clothes returning to their original tones, approximately three minutes after exposure. A celebration of the diversity of life, imbued with scientific poetry, to discover below.

* Boyarovskaya (March 2, 2023)

Maria Boyarovskaya and Artem Kononenko play it selfie retro nineties for the presentation of their Fall Winter 23 collection, plugging the video camera directly into the television screen, the models filming each other or themselves.

* Coperni (March 3, 2023)

Such a surprise, the entry on Coperni’s catwalk Boston Dynamics’robots. We knew Spot, the canine explorer of the American robotics company, fond of disco choreography and Adidas sneakers. It is now proven, thanks to its impeccable performance in the French brand's FW 23/24 fashion show, that he loves being a model. And what delicacy in the carry of the bag or the fall of the cape, until the final greeting, airtight.

Coperni, a label that has become a master in the art of fashion tech buzz. Who doesn't remember the dress sprayed on, then dried, directly on model Bella Hadid's body, during the Spring-Summer 23 fashion show? Refresh your memory, if needed be, below.
