Can we read the future of fashion tech in the cards? Still, those of the Tarot of Marseille tell us a lot about the inspiration of Clara Daguin, whose Cosmic Dance collection was presented on January 24, on the sidelines of the Spring-Summer 2023 haute couture week. It is at Maison Baccarat, the Parisian space of the French crystal company, that the tech-savvy designer unveiled the 17 looks of her show, in collaboration with the ribbon-maker Satab.
The flagship piece of the collection is the Star dress, in homage to crystal chandeliers by Baccarat. Inspired by the Star card of the Tarot deck, this dress is made up of over 400 Baccarat crystals, with integrated LEDs, whose sparkle is induced by the movements of the model.
The Justice card inspired a silhouette with luminous trousers, embellished with light-up earrings.
The luminous Fool dress takes its name from the card of the same name, the Fool.
The silhouette below is completed by the Pendulum bag, with Clara Daguin’s luminous logo, signed by leather goods designer Alice Watier.
Among the models of the show, the singers Vladana or Zaz who recounts her experience in the Instagram post above.
The Montenegrin singer Vladana Vučinić also represented her country, during the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, in a light-up dress signed by Clara Daguin.
Echoing the title of her song Breathe, "the light on the dress was sound-activated and was breathing to the music", explained Clara Daguin on her Instagram account, behind the scenes from the event, last June.
In the video below, Clara Daguin talks about her work and how she uses light in her creations, on the occasion of Cosmic Dance.
Several outfits from the show were available on the DressX virtual fashion platform.
For those who want to admire Clara Daguin's outfits "in real life", Satab is exhibiting two pieces from her new collection at Première Vision show since February 7th. Since 2020, the French ribbon-maker has been providing the French designer with its connected smart textile technology, based on the Internet of Things (IOT) (photos: ©Satab/Clara Daguin).
As mentioned in Satab's press release, Clara Daguin has set her sights on Eweav, a "new range of connected linear sensors" which has allowed the creation of two suit jackets, one lighting up "from within" , the other integrating “the luminous fibres into the garment”. You can discover them, in Villepinte, until February 9.
UPDATE on 9 February 2023: Satab has just sent us a video of the two outfits filmed on its stand. See below.
