Busy week for the startup Resortecs. After being awarded the changemaker of the year prize, during the Belgian Fashion Awards 2021, on November 25, in Antwerp, its innovation was celebrated under the spotlights of the Fashion Awards 2021, Monday, in London.

The American actress Hailee Steinfeld has, in fact, walked the red carpet of the British fashion awards in an H&M catsuit especially designed for the occasion and worn with a cape embroidered with the hot-melt sewing thread of Resortecs, a thread whose characteristic is to dissolve at high temperature. Under the action of a heat gun, the thread melts and disappears, making it easier to disassemble parts of the garment. In the case of the cape for instance, its eco-design with such a thread makes it possible to separate the beads and sequins from the garment for better recycling its materials at the end of the product life cycle.

To find out more about the Belgian startup Resortecs, founded in 2017 by Cédric Vanhoeck and Vanessa Counaert, read this Boudoir Numérique interview : “Our stitching thread melts at high temperature”.

The cape worn by Hailee Steinfeld is part of the Swedish brand Innovation Circular Design Story collection, to be released on December 9. This collection focused on the concept of circular fashion is the fourth in H&M series on innovative sustainable fashion titled Innovation Stories, whose third Co-Exist Story, vegan and cruelty-free, was launched last November (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article). The second collection, Colour Story, focused on colors, while the first, Science Story, was dedicated to materials, for instance cactus alter-leather (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article).
