PETA's 2022 Vegan Fashion Awards shined a light on mushroom, grape, pineapple, corn or apple alter-leathers that are building tomorrow ethical fashion, in collections from precursors like Stella McCartney or Minuit sur Terre.

The winners of the 2022 Vegan Fashion Award from the animal rights association PETA were unveiled on February 25. Among them, innovative cruelty-free and more sustainable materials take the lion's share, as the year 2021 was rich in promising initiatives for fashion that respects sentient beings and the environment. Let's discover them together.
* The prize for the best vegan bag is awarded to the British designer Stella McCartney for her Frayme Mylo in mushroom alter-leather, in collaboration with the biofabrication company Bolt Threads (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article).
* The vegan glow-up prize was won by Stan Smith from Adidas, also in Mylo mushroom unleather (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article).
* The Prize for Progress goes to the Danish brand Ganni for announcing, last fall, the drop, in Spring-Summer 2022, of eight pairs of shoes in Vegea, the grape alter-leather from the Italian company of the same name.
* The collaboration prize is awarded to Nike and Piñatex for their Happy Pineapple collection in Piñatex pineapple alter-leather from the company Ananas Anam. Launched in June 2021, this collection includes seven pairs of sneakers revisiting, in vegan version, five classic models of the American sports brand: the Free Run Trail Premium, the Air Max 90, the Air Max 95, the Air Force One and the Air-Zoom Type.
* The men's fashion prize goes to the ethical brand Minuit sur Terre for its shoes, belts and wallets in apple or corn alter-leathers.
* The innovation prize is won by Demetra, Gucci's alter-leather, unveiled on June 17, 2021 (more info soon on Le Boudoir Numérique).
