The fashion tech moment of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 6: Ginger Minj as Fergie at the Super Bowl
In paying tribute, last July, to the appearance of the singer Fergie at the 2011 Super Bowl, the drag queen Ginger Minj reenacted a founding step in bling tech and in the career of the electronic couture designer Anouk Wipprecht.

If Ginger Minj did not win the sixth edition of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (more info in this article), the fierce performances of the American queen nevertheless managed to hoist her into the top 4 finalists. Among her appearances, one literally caught the eye of Le Boudoir Numérique : her tribute to the diva of the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, at the Super Bowl 2011.

If Ginger Minj’s costume caught the attention of Le Boudoir Numérique, it is because it refers to a key moment in the history of fashion tech, namely the luminous outfit worn by the singer Fergie, on February 6, 2011, in Arlington, during the halftime show of the Super Bowl, the final of the American football championship.
Watched by about 111 million viewers, this record-breaking halftime show shone the spotlight on a growing trend at the time, that of the integration of technological elements into stage outfits, a premise for the development of bling tech, now common on catwalks and red carpets, while boosting the career of Anouk Wipprecht, co-designer of Fergie's light-up silhouette and Black Eyed Peas’ looks with the costume designers of the stars, Bea Åkerlund.
Since then, Anouk Wipprecht has become known for her electronic couture concept which has given rise to the creation of several emotional dresses playing in particular on the topic of social distancing, such as the Spider dress (more info in this article) or the Proximity dress (more info in this article).
Inspired by the equipment of American football players, the shoulder pads of Fergie's outfit are equipped with LEDs that make the Swarovski crystals that decorate it shine brightly.
