The eco-responsible brand Pangaia is diversifying the offer of its library of bio-sourced and vegan materials, by presenting two innovative fabrics, resulting from its research and development on alternatives to cotton, which water, pesticides and fertilizers intensive consumption has been proved harmful for the environment and for sentient beings.
The collective of scientists, engineers, artists and designers, created in 2018, between London and New York, thus unveiled, on August 5, PLNTFIBER and FRUITFIBER, two materials composed of plant fibers, derived from food waste, as well as renewable and fast growing plants. PLNTFIBER and FRUITFIBER are used in a new Pangaia capsule collection.
As stated on Pangaia website, FRUITFIBER is “a blend of responsibly sourced bamboo lyocell combined with pineapple leaf and banana leaf fibers - two natural materials that are usually considered agricultural waste”. Regarding PLNTFIBER, it is “a blend of responsibly sourced and renewable Himalayan nettle fiber, bamboo lyocell, and eucalyptus lyocell embedded with seaweed - four fast-growing plants that do not require pesticides, fertilizers or irrigation”.
* The Pangaia capsule collection is available in t-shirts, dresses and shorts in 4 colors for FRUITFIBER, as well as hoodies, track pants and shorts in 3 colors for PLNTFIBER. More info on the brand's official website here.
