"Offering an alternative to conventional leather goods", such is the mission chosen by Céline Sendas, the founder of the vegan and more sustainable brand Bihotz, whom Le Boudoir Numérique met at the VeggieWorld fair, dedicated to veganism, last Saturday, Porte de la Villette, in Paris.
The French brand, whose name means "heart" in Basque, was launched in 2021 in Bayonne, where its bags and leather goods are designed by Céline Sendas, before being manufactured in a workshop of 15 craftsmen in the Tarn.
Bihotz favors materials that respect the environment and sentient beings, humans and non-humans, such as the Desserto cactus alter-leather from the company Adriano Di Marti, made from the mature leaves of the nopal cactus. Like Bihotz, Desserto is certified vegan by the animal rights organization PETA.
In the video (in French) below, Céline Sendas presents the latest addition to her collection of cactus alter-leather bags, the Bahia bag, in lilac.
