“Iris, you smashed”, “The details of the dress are impeccable”, “exquisite”, “I am just in complete awe”… it was in these enthousiastic terms that the fans of Iris van Herpen greeted, on Instagram, the photo of Hailee Steinfeld, two days after her appearance wearing a dress by the Dutch designer on the red carpet of the MET Gala, in New York.

Well-deserved compliments for this delicate Magnetosphere dress made in collaboration with the English artist Rogan Brown, known for his paper installations combining art and science in an ode to nature's wonders.

But this dress is also exceptional because it is made from Ocean Plastic, a material recycled from plastic harvested at sea by the American environmental protection movement Parley for the Oceans. An innovative material that the tech-savvy designer had already used for the Holobiont dress from her Spring-Summer 2021 haute couture collection unveiled as part of Paris Fashion Week, on January 25 (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article).
