Gabrielle Union wears a laser-cut dress by Iris van Herpen at the MET Gala 2021

The American actress Gabrielle Union appeared on the red carpet of the annual gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, yesterday, in the dress Aeternus signed by the designer Iris van Herpen.

While yesterday the people and fashion press around the world celebrated the return of the famous MET Gala, eclipsed due to the Covid-19 pandemic last year, the favorite event of the stars also marked their reunion with a designer accustomed to red carpets : the Dutch Iris van Herpen.
In addition to the silhouettes of the singer Grimes (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article) and the actress Tessa Thompson (more info here) , Iris van Herpen's workshop took 1,400 hours, in Amsterdam, to make the custom dress Aeternus that the Americain actress Gabrielle Union wore, on September 13, under the spotlights of the annual evening gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
A dress laser-cut by the team of the tech-savvy designer, as explained on the haute couture house's Instagram account today, in these terms: “Thousands of spheres are cut and layerd in size gradients from a translucent white ‘liquid’ fabric and lasercut with a fine silver outline, to then be handstitched seamlessly in a multilevel optical illusion from which waves seem to float down weightlessly."
