Who would have imagined the big hairy Chewbacca inspire an outfit worthy of a high-fashion catwalk? A Barbie doll designer, of course! Namely Robert Best, working at Mattel for over 25 years and fan of the saga, inaugurated with the film Star Wars: A New Hope by George Lucas, in 1977. Faux fur coat, vinyl and sheer organza bodice, without forgetting the handbag, reference to his signature bandolier…, the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon is ready for your personal runway, from June 19, at the price of 150 US dollars.
After the launch of its Star Wars x Barbie Doll collection last year, and on the occasion of this May 4, day of celebration of the sci-fi media franchise, Mattel continues to revisit the famous movie characters, in the light of Barbie glamourous style, adding to its first R2-D2, Darth Vader and Princess Leia dolls (see here) three new other fashionistas: Rey, C-3PO and a Stormtrooper.
As for Robert Best, Senior Design Director at Mattel and creator, in 2000, of the collection "Barbie Fashion Model Collection," celebrating the role of the doll as the ultimate fashion icon, he also signed the Star Trek couple Ken and Barbie, in 1996, for the 30th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's SF serie.
