As the reign of the facial mask is not ready to end because of the persistent pandemic, the company of accessories for gamers Razer is working on the Hazel project, a smart, transparent and luminous mask, inspired by the gaming culture.

"Project Hazel is going to be a reality." Min-Liang Tan, the CEO and co-founder of Razer reassured, on March 24, in an interview with Yahoo Finance, the skeptics who thought that his Hazel project of smart mask would never be commercialized, following the presentation of its prototype, during CES, last January.

The American company of accessories for gamers is developing an alternative to the disposable mask, meeting the requirements of health protection, while being inspired aesthetically by the universe of gaming, of which it is derived.  

Thus, the mask filters are surrounded by specific light-emitting diodes from Razer's Chroma RGB lighting technology, offering a choice of 16.8 million colours, like the gamers use for their keyboard, their mouse, the tower of their computer, the outline of their screen, pretty much everything in fact. The interior of the mask also automatically lights up in the dark.

Another visual advantage: the facade of the mask, transparent, no longer conceals the face and its expressions, thus improving the interactions between individuals, especially for people with hearing loss who can read on the lips. Bacterial filtration, airflow regulation, sound amplification, disinfection by UV light ..., all the technical specifications of Hazel, whose price and launching date has not not yet been communicated, are explained in the video below.
