The duo of extraterrestrial artists Fecal Matter published on its Instagram account a social distancing mask and a pair of silicone gloves, "futuristic, washable, reusable and practical" to do their grocery shopping, while still being dressed to the (fetish) nines.

“I need one”, “Please, let this be for sale”, “Are you putting this in auction?”, “Chanel need to take a note of this, love it !”, “Make it safe and fashion”… It is in these enthusiastic terms that the followers of Fecal Matter's Instagram account welcomed the new creation of the fashionistas duo fallen from another planet : a social distancing mask, made "out of a broken Chanel bag", explained the post published on April 12.
It’s not the first time that Fecal Matter has referred to the global Coronavirus crisis. A few days earlier, the two fierce artists based in Montreal, Canada, had been noticed by the Vogue website for their “skin gloves”, more precisely in silicone, originally imagined for a fashion presentation postponed due to Covid-19 crisis, as one of the designers Steven Raj Bhaskaran told the fashion magazine on April 7 (read the paper here).
Explaining his creative process, he said : “We were channeling the archetypes of fashion, like ’50s Dior and these elegant staples, like these gloves that have a futuristic spin on something classic.”
In fact, the two designers did not hesitate to use their gloves for shopping in their neighborhood supermarket, as Steven Raj Bhaskaran told Vogue.com : “We wash them and they are reusable, so it is practical for us. Especially in these times so much of what makes us happy is dressing up and playing around with clothing and just having fun, so grocery shopping is the only opportunity to go outside now.”
