"A modern muse". This is the woman for whose wardrobe Iris van Herpen signs her first line of corset-style belts, unveiled on the Dutch designer's Instagram account five days ago. A line inspired by her haute couture collections and resolutely modern, indeed, since it was produced by a laser cutting process consisting in cutting the material, thanks to the heat generated by the concentration of an amplified light beam on the material surface, until it vaporizes. Laser cutting, precise, fast and allowing to vary at will the shapes to be created, is a technique frequently used by Iris van Herpen, for her clothes but also certain accessories, such as the face jewelry of her haute couture Fall-Winter 2019/2020 collection Hypnosis (read here).
Iris van Herpen's line of corset belts, developed within her atelier in Amsterdam, consists of four models, Sensory Seas, Symbiosis, Nautilus and Meander, each available in four design variations and four colourways. As an alternative to animal-based leather, the belts are also available in a vegan faux leather version from the American company Majilite (images below : ©Iris van Herpen)
The campaign to promote Iris van Herpen belt line was shot by the Amsterdam-based duo of photographers Petrovsky & Ramone (images below : ©Petrovsky & Ramone for Iris van Herpen, models: Awa Diallo and Julie Hoekstra).
