Following the success of her luminous mask tutorial, fashion designer Chelsea Klukas posted on the web, on April 19, a second more detailed video of this social distancing accessory, also sold on the Lumen Couture website, her fashion tech line of ready-to-wear garments.

A mask “to bring a bit of dystopian style to a tough situation”. On April 5, fashion tech designer Chelsea Klukas posted on the web a video tutorial to make her own protective mask, during the crisis of Covid-19 (for more information, read this paper of Le Boudoir Numérique here). The success of her light-up accessory was such that the creator of the startup Lumen Couture published, on April 19, a new more detailed video tutorial, including a pattern specifically made for this mask.

Watch the video tutorial below. Note that for people who do not know how to sew, the mask is available on the website of Lumen Couture, the fashion tech ready-to-wear line of Chelsea Klukas (see here). Ready to use, it will be shipping in May 2020.

 This mask is now part of the Led Matrix collection by Lumen Couture (see here), using flexible LED panels that allow texts, images and videos to be displayed on clothing or accessories and instantly be modified, via a phone app.

Lumen Couture's Led Matrix collection includes a dress, a skirt, a belt, a choker, a hoodie and henceforth the mask. Chelsea Klukas hopes, in her video tutorial, that if "this fun project is not intended to be used as serious protection (…) it brings a bit of fun in strange and scary times".
