Bringing out the emotional aspect of couture, “through the synthetic filter of artificial intelligence”, this is the challenge taken up at Valentino by of a trio of creative people resolutely focused on technology and experimentation. The first one, Pierpaolo Piccioli, the artistic director of the Italian house has just unveiled, on January 26, his Spring-Summer 2021 haute couture collection, entitled Code Temporal. The second, Robert Del Naja, the founder of the English group Massive Attack, signed the soundtrack of the show filmed in the Colonna palace, in Rome. But not only (images below : © Valentino).

The musician also documented for three months behind the scenes of Valentino’s Roman atelier, where the silhouettes of Code Temporal were created. The rushes were then given to Mario Klingemann, a German artist pioneer of the use of AI in art. More exactly to his algorithms which edited the images, transformed under the prism of artificial intelligence, in a video (see below), broadcast on Valentino's social networks, four days after the show.

Surfing on ganism, artistic current relying on the collaboration between machine intelligence and human intelligence, is not new in fashion. Already last September, at Milan fashion week, the sisters of the Italian brand Attilio Giusti Leombruni (AGL) chose to use artificial intelligence, in the online presentation video of their Spring-Summer 2021 shoe collection (more info in this Boudoir Numérique article). Watch Mario Klingemann talk about the use of AI in his work, in the video below.
