Fembots and Sci-Fi at Dior : decoding 101

BACK TO THE FUTURE. Following the Dior Men’s pre-fall show, in the shadow of a giant goddess robot, last Friday, in Tokyo, Le Boudoir Numérique takes a look at its science-fiction influences and remembers, in pictures, the most unforgettable female humanoid robots in movies and series.

Giant robot, futuristic down jackets, Matrix or Tron inspired harnesses and motifs ... science fiction was in the spotlight last Friday, in Tokyo, for the Dior men’s pre-fall 2019 show. The artistic director of the French house, Kim Jones, invited Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama, famous for his sexy robotic pin-ups, to infuse his cyber imagination to the scenography of the show but also to his collection.

Thus, the models were wearing the Dior logo reinterpreted by the artist, iridescent futuristic down jackets or silks printed with sensual gynoids, androids with a feminine appearance. Which echoed the giant 12 meter high aluminum goddess robot, created by Sorayama and erected in the center of the catwalk.

Fans of fashion and science fiction will find many parallels to iconic films, such as the Matrix Trilogy by the Wachowski Sisters (1999 - 2003) for the harnesses of Keanu Reeves, aka Neo.

Or, for the graphic prints and holographic jackets with Steven Lisberger's Tron in 1982 and its sequel, Joseph Kosinski's Tron: Legacy, in 2010.

And as the sexy bots of Hajime Sorayama are an eloquent homage to the Metropolis robot, Le Boudoir Numérique can not resist the pleasure of offering a gallery of the most enigmatic, badass and beautiful gynoids of all times, in movies and series.
